DISCLAIMER

This information is an educational aid and is not legal advice for any individual grievance or case. The information and material set forth on this web site represents a general overview of various laws, regulations, decisions and other developments. It generally approaches topics in a unionized setting where a collective bargaining agreement exists. A word of caution is appropriate as the systems of labor law are fluid and evolving. The summary contained herein may be affected by a number of developments such as appeals, legislative activity, conflicting court decisions, the language of applicable collective bargaining agreements or employment policies, past practices, and practical judgments, etc. These materials are not intended (and should not be used) as a substitute for specific legal advice since such advice may only be given in response to inquiries regarding specific factual situations.

Additional Considerations

This material is being posted effective August of 2007 and is not being continuously updated. Please note, there are many sources of information for consideration and usage. For example, (1) The Developing Labor Law (5th Edition), published through the efforts of the American Bar Association (ABA); and (2) Elkouri and Elkouri How Arbitration Works (6th Edition), which describes and expands upon the very general principals discussed on this web site and is a source like The Developing Labor Law that is used by both labor and management.
